I have used psilocybin, mdma and ibogaine to explore life long, treatment resistant depression. They certainly loosened the soil & allowed me to access what was behind the depression and I integrated that new information using neurofeedback, IFS and somatic experiencing. It has been difficult and heartbreaking, but nowhere near as difficult as living a not-life of depression. It’s a long journey that goes way beyond the initial treatment with the psychedelic, but I’m ever so grateful to be able to access these catalysts that helped to deliver me home to myself, at last.
If you might be interested in sharing more of your story, I’m currently preparing a book about the treatments that work best for different kinds of depression. Feel free to DM me!
Depression fixing is not with food! It’s with a support system , if there is no support like friends or family not direct like mom and dad and sister brother , another outside - with out this frustration can lead to worse things like bipolar disorder from frustration of arguments with direct family not understanding and forcing pills . Then the suppression turns to disparagingly loneliness, you reach out but not knowing whom is safe, geting taken advantage of by locals who know better , traumatized by assholes with a passport to the USA no justice for what I lived - but my experiences can help medically - I was left in a ditch in high school labeled bipolar (which was wrong) until 2014, when I was tortured while given drugs I wrote about that. The fact is I wrote about it a few years after it happened I published my notes even as abstracted as they were to showcase what I lived was effecting me when I wrote it and when I published it - but the 77-ish published posts in and out of experiences and stories I lived that was not real or real I’m just lucky to be alive, I would like to help from a child like perspective what when wrong as a child the bipolar meds as a teenager 10 at once to having a healthy marriage to be taken out of reality and tricked into things that caused my mental to turn Schitzo effective ptsd. If north carolina had not granted my mother custody - I wish New York could sue Texas it was not a fit place for a beautiful talented lady , Texas ruined my life to a point. From 1998-2004, and 2014-2019, I even tried to contact the bar when tripping needing help and wanting to sue the state the police the university and my family for not comprehending the severity of my situation .
This is so delicious! Having done some ketamine treatments with my physician I know first hand how powerfully helpful and “ renewing” these psychedelics can be for those of us with ptsd, depression, addiction, and those of us needing the “rewriting” of our subconscious.
It’s a journey and not a quick fix. One needs to keep doing their inner work of releasing whatever is manifested at the cellular level.. cutting the cords is a journey. Everyone’s experience is different… I hope you’re doing this with a Psychiatrist and a reputable organization. What is scary is the commercializing of this and it being done in Spas. Very scary…… enjoy your journey…🙏🏽
Happy to hear you are taking the leap Charles. I am witness to this medicine having a profound impact on peoples lives, daily. It is incredible especially, as JL mentions, when the integration work is done alongside the medicine sessions. Happy to share about integration if you are interested Charles! Wishing you well.
In the 70s when I was at university I developed my own system of micro dosing. I would add a tab of LSD to a small vial of Binaca, a brand of mouth freshener that was mostly alcohol.
I would put a drop under my tongue for a micro dose. It worked very well. I am glad the world is catching up to where we were 50 years ago
Have been microdosing for 15 months (weaning off Zoloft for the first 8 months), and now am pharmaceutical-free. It is NOT a quick fix, and forces you to look within, which (I have found) many people simply cannot handle. If you are a control freak completely wrapped up in ego and identity, you are not going to like it. It is messy, challenging, humbling, and in many ways, like being completely undone. And it is an ongoing process. But, after 15 months, depression and mania are no longer overwhelming me, which allows me to explore and understand where those triggers come from, and how to better manage (not medicate) the ride. I am excited to follow along to see what you learn and share.
My take is that psilocybin is not a passive experience. It is not a pill that you take that makes you feel better (ketamine is more like that - but ketamine rots your bladder). Psilocybin is a catalyst. It will help you do the work, but you still need to do the work - and that often means working through pain.
This is very exciting work! So much gratitude to Michael, Jane, and Malia and the whole team at the Berkeley Center for putting this together. Looking forward to it and glad to know there will be such a high quality and reliable source for how the psychedelic renaissance continues to unfold.
Please discuss the dangers of self-medicating with psychedelics without the aid of clinicians. All this excitement drives people to experiment and self-medicate which in many ways can be detrimental to one's health. A bad tip can often be traumatic and long-lasting.
Millions of people have had their introduction to illegal psychedelics without the aid of clinicians. Thank goodness. While there is a risk that an entheogen like psilocybin or LSD may trigger difficult thoughts and feelings (there is less risk with MDMA), the greater risk is for the myriad of people who are prevented from ever experiencing psychedelics and so are left with subclinical or untreated depression, anxiety, and a gnawing sense of disconnection and small-mindedness. We should be careful about the predictable results of “medicalizing” paychedelics and restricting their use to overpriced clinics.
I would go 10 steps further to say there’s a risk that only using clinician mediated use of psychedelics may prevent people from having negative experiences that actually bring to light the depth of their suffering and rock them so deeply they learn to think and feel again and begin the process of regaining their autonomy
However, bypassing our adaptive filters - both incoming and outgoing - might result in behaviors that get someone thrown into mainstream medical “assistance“, or even worse, our “justice“ system.
Both of which can slow or stop someone’s progress on their journey.
With deeper connection as the goal, a good guide could be a good idea on an unfamiliar and possibly overwhelming journey.
I know from my work, that clinicians will often NOT be the best guides. And, many times oneself will be one’s own best guide.
But I also know, from my previous work, that in present society, any route which leads some people to injury, death, or wandering off into the psychic abyss, will soon be limited or completely cut off, for the many that still need that Path/work.(?)
That's awesome! Thanks for the lead. I support the initiative in all mentioned aspects. I'll spread out the word in my network around the world! Let's strengthen the mycelium network.
Hi. Greetings from Sydney, Australia. Whilst just a novice to the 'psychedlic rennaisance' I am absolutely deilghted and relieved to have come across the world of Ketamine and psychedlics. As a recent 'super-responder' to clinically administered Ketomine micro-dosing, my newly acquired knowledge, my life has once again returned me to the land of the living. My hope, like yours, is to get the message out to the rest of the world, specifically to medical practitioners and those suffering debiltating mental health disorders, whom are often impeded by governmental red tape and obfuscation. I am dedicated to advocating for those who can ill afford breakthrough therapies to access pschedelic treatments for mental health disorders. My devastating four year journey battling with treatment resistance bipolar1 has hopefully has taken a turn for the best life I can lead. Thank you :)

That's really good information. I was just about to start ketamine treatments what I was kind of on the fence. You've convinced me to give it a try.

I just finished writing an essay on Microdosing and Mindfulness and received a Tweet from Michael Pollen advertising this site. Holy Synchronicity.
I would love to share your piece of writing on Brainpowersphere.com (still a work in progress) - would that be of interest? contact@brainpowersphere.com
Hello: how would I access your article?
